In 2022, CVŘ successfully participated in the BePAT program for the first time. Under the direction of our colleague Lukáš Toupal, our laboratory can evaluate the presence of beryllium in samples with extraordinary precision.
The Research Centre Řež (CVŘ) can proudly announce a significant achievement in the BePAT (Beryllium Proficiency Analytical Testing) program organised by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). The BePAT program is crucial for assessing the analytical capabilities of laboratories focused on detecting beryllium in the workplace, and CVŘ is one of the leading laboratories in Europe participating in this program.
In 2022, CVŘ successfully participated in the BePAT program for the first time. Under the direction of our colleague Lukáš Toupal, our laboratory can evaluate the presence of beryllium in samples with extraordinary precision. This capability is essential for ensuring a safe working environment at the HELCZA – High Energy Load Czech Assembly experimental testing facility, equipped with an electron gun to test so-called plasma-facing components designed for the experimental fusion reactor ITER.
CVŘ holds an exclusive position as our laboratory is the only one in the European Union participating in the prestigious BePAT program. This unique position highlights the importance and excellent level of our analytical capabilities.
We aim to provide the highest safety standards within the chemical-controlled zone. With this goal, we have established an analytical laboratory whose primary function is to perform beryllium analyses using NIOSH methods 9110 and 7102. To achieve this target quality, the laboratory is equipped with modern technologies such as a UV-VIS spectrophotometer capable of measuring fluorescence and an atomic absorption spectrometer with electrothermal atomization. Such equipment enables precise and reliable analyses, contributing to the health and safety of workers in environments where exposure to beryllium is a potential risk.
This year's results confirm that CVŘ is a significant player in the field of analytical techniques and has become a model for enhancing workplace safety. The BePAT program is not just a test of the laboratory's capabilities but also a guarantee of quality and reliability for all who rely on CVŘ's analytical services.
