Collaboration

CVŘ focuses mainly on research, development and innovation in the field of energy. The built infrastructure and the expertise of the staff provide the partners with a unique opportunity to collaborate at a cutting-edge level.

Among the main areas of our activities are notably research support for the operation of both nuclear and conventional power plants, research and development in the field of advanced nuclear technologies, such as fourth-generation reactors, small modular reactors (SMR), and fusion. Additionally, our focus extends to research support for the processing and disposal of radioactive and hazardous waste, as well as research and development in the field of emissions-free energy and modern energy technologies. Special attention is currently dedicated to topics like energy storage and thermodynamic cycles. An integral and key theme across all research areas is advanced material research, which plays a special role in our portfolio of activities.

Our cooperation

Cooperation with other research organisations

We collaborate with research organisations from all over the world. We focus mainly on R&D projects, but we also participate in projects for the construction of new innovative facilities (ITER, ESS) and projects with an impact on the involvement of Czech entities in European and global research.
In cooperation with the State Institute of Radiation Protection (SIRP), we aim to develop the sharing of expert capacities, know-how, models, computational codes and experimental data and systematically deepen know-how in the field of deterministic and probabilistic methods of nuclear safety assessment.
We cooperate intensively with universities and research institutes. The cooperation takes place not only in the area of scientific research projects, but also in the area of student involvement in practice. University students are given the opportunity to work on their master's or doctoral theses at R&D departments and are provided with the appropriate experts to guide them. Selected students at all levels of study are offered a work degree for their professional development and practical experience. Selected CVŘ staff members are also involved in teaching at universities and thus contribute to the development of study programmes.
An integral part of the company's activities today is also intensive cooperation with industry in the Czech Republic and abroad and the corresponding transfer of technology and knowledge.
With our infrastructure, we are involved in a range of national and international research projects, where we have been a sought-after partner for many years. Examples include projects such as TA ČR THÉTA and NCK, security research, projects under the OP PIK, and others. At the international level, it primarily involves numerous projects from the EURATOM pillar within the Research and Innovation programs. Currently, we are collaborating on addressing twenty projects, with the coordination responsibility for two of them.
The CVŘ is an active member of many international and national organisations and platforms that focus on collaborative research, education and the provision of professional support. Our participation in these organisations allows us to contribute to the development of international and national strategies and the cultivation of the scientific environment.
