Liquidation of consequences of the Fukushima NPP accident – our scientists capitalize years of experience

Testing the suitability of fluorination technologies for fuel debris from the Fukushima nuclear power plant is the subject of the project Fluorination for Japan, that experts from the Research Centre Řež successfully implemented. End customer of the project is a Japanese company Hitachi, their specialists work together in the project with our scientists to develop an appropriate method.

In mid-February, Japanese colleagues attended the opening of experiments on fluorination line, the goal of successfully implemented fluorination experiment was to determine the behavior of selected elements in the given reaction conditions and to simulate as accurately the behavior of real fuel.

Japanese colleagues have positively evaluated the workflow and progress of experiments and expressed their interest to cooperate in the future. Therefore we capitalize on our long experience in this field and we get other very interesting and important reference.
