Deputy Minister Pavel Šolc was interested in progress in research of Generation IV nuclear reactors

On Monday, 16 February 2015, Deputy Minister Pavel Šolc of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic visited ÚJV Řež. The main subject of the visit was presentation about progress in the two activities, which are already in Centrum výzkumu Řež carried out in R&D of the technologies of molten salt Reactors (more specifically using fluoride salt as a cooling agent). Carrying out this activity, CVŘ fulfils one of the parts of Agreement on cooperation in civilian research and development in the field of nuclear energy, signed in the year 2014 between Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade and U.S. Department of Energy. During the guided technical tour on research reactor LR-0, there was introduced the research project focused on development of Generation IV reactors. After that, Mr Šolc was informed about the new modernized safety and control system of second research reactor operated in Řež – the LVR-15 reactor. The above mentioned modernization consists of digitalization of the safety and control system and was conducted in the second half of year 2014.
