Ambassador of Japan on his visit in Řež

H.E. Kaoru Shimazaki, the ambassador of Japan, was interested in cooperation between ÚJV Řež and the Research Centre Řež with his country during his visit in Řež. The presence of the Head of  the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, Mr. Peter Očko highlighted the importance of the cooperation for the future opportunities for the Czech research. The honoured guests was welcomed by Karel Křížek, the general director of ÚJV Řež and by Martin Ruščák, the managing director of CVŘ.

CVŘ signed a contract last year with a consortium of Japanese companies which operate in the treatment of the consequences of the Fukushima nuclear plant accident. The Japanese party wants the Czech researchers to verify the method that will be used for extraction and subsequent separation of radioactive elements from the melted active zones of the three reactors. „It is a two year research project at the end of which there will be proven technology for removal of uranium, plutonium and the fission products from the melt. Our technology is unique in this way“, stated Martin Ruščák, the managing director of CVŘ.

The ambassador Kaoru Shimazaki visited some of our facilities which were built as a part of the project Sustainable Energy (SUSEN) and the research reactor LVR-15.
